Early intervention services for infants and toddlers are funded and regulated by the New York State Department of Health, and in New York City by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Evaluation and special education services for preschool age children is made possible through State and County funding pursuant to Section 4410 of Article 89 of the Education Law. If a child has a disability, services are provided based on individual needs as determined by the Committee on Preschool Special Education of the local school district, and may be provided in the child's normal daytime setting.
